Laurie Saurborn is the author of two books of poems, Industry of Brief Distraction (Saturnalia Books, 2015), and Carnavoria (H_NGM_N BKS, 2012), as well as a chapbook of poems, Patriot (Forklift, Ink., 2013). Her work has appeared in The Rumpus, Tupelo Quarterly, The Southern Review, r.kv.r.y. literary quarterly, and elsewhere. A 2015 NEA Creative Writing Fellowship recipient, she was awarded residencies at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts and Madroño Ranch: A Center for Writing and the Arts.
Previously, Laurie taught creative writing at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also directed the undergraduate creative writing program. She holds an MFA in creative writing from Warren Wilson College, a BA in psychology from UNC-CH, and is currently pursuing an MS in nursing with a concentration in psychiatric mental health at The Ohio State University.
