Laurie Saurborn is the author of two books of poems, Industry of Brief Distraction (Saturnalia Books, 2015), and Carnavoria (H_NGM_N BKS, 2012), as well as a chapbook of poems, Patriot (Forklift, Ink., 2013).
Essays, fiction, poems, photographs, and reviews have appeared in American Microreviews & Interviews, The American Reader, Narrative Magazine, The Rumpus, Tupelo Quarterly and elsewhere.
Her photographs have shown in several exhibitions, including shows at Gallery Black Lagoon in Austin, TX (2011-2013); the 2012 Texas National Juried Art Exhibition; and the Southampton Cultural Center Juried Show (2011).
She holds an MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College. A 2015 NEA Creative Writing Fellowship recipient, she was awarded residencies at Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts and Madroño Ranch: A Center for Writing and the Arts. From 2015-2018, Laurie taught creative writing at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also directed the undergraduate creative writing program. Currently, she is pursuing a graduate degree in nursing with a concentration in psychiatric mental health at The Ohio State University.
